COVID-19 Vaccine at Seattle Indian Health Board

Last week, we received our first shipment of the Moderna Vaccine for COVID-19. We encourage relatives to safeguard their health and safety by being vaccinated, and are excited to offer the vaccine at our clinic.

The vaccine will be distributed in multiple phases. Frontline workers will be among first to receive the vaccine. This includes our staff and the staff of other Native organizations in our continuum of care: Chief Seattle Club, Mother Nation, United Indians of All Tribes Foundation, and Urban Native Education Alliance. Providing vaccines to frontline workers ensures that these vital organizations can continue to fully serve our relatives.

American Indian or Alaska Native elders who are age 55 and older will also be among the first phases of the vaccine rollout. We be conducting outreach to those already involved with our Elders Program to schedule vaccine appointments. More details about the vaccine rollout will be coming soon.

For more information on the development, benefits, and potential side effects of the Moderna vaccine, please visit the Centers for Disease Control or view the factsheets developed by our research division, Urban Indian Health Institute, about the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines.
