Seattle Indian Health Board staff took our canoe on its initial voyage recently at Golden Gardens Park, in honor of the first Paddle to Seattle in 1989!
Led by our Traditional Indian Medicine (TIM) team, the canoe provides a cultural and spiritual way to help heal and strengthen our youth, families, and communities. The canoe is a teacher of unity, kinship with the natural world, prayer, connection, and so much more. We look forward to more canoe pulls this season.
In the future, the vessel will also be part of the TIM team’s practice for people on their healing journeys.
