Thunderbird Treatment Center involves all patients and, to the extent possible, their families, in the patient's recovery from chemical dependency. Thunderbird is one of the largest residential treatment centers operated by a Native American nonprofit health care agency in the United States. The staff at Thunderbird Treatment Center maintains standards of excellence and is committed to the protection of individual rights, especially confidentiality. Four large cottages house adult patients in our residential treatment program. SIHB encourages the continuity of care for those in recovery; residents may seek outpatient counseling at the Leschi Center, where all SIHB outpatient services are located. Treatment programs typically focus on group therapy, cultural and spiritual needs, nutritional regimen, one-to-one therapy, physical exercise, family involvement and 24-hour patient supervision. Cross addictions are treated in the case of combined alcohol-drug dependence. Length of stay varies depending on the individual patient's need. Various options are available when considering length of stay and payment for services. SIHB contracts with individuals, public agencies such as the Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse (ADATSA) and private insurance companies for payment. Thunderbird patients have full access to the comprehensive range of quality health services at SIHB. Culturally relevant practices are important, and a traditional health liaison is on staff. Free transportation daily is provided to and from the SIHB clinics. If you have questions about the Center's programs or staff, please call 206-324-9360 or e-mail us at info@sihb.org. |
