The Healthy Heart Project is a wellness program designed to promote heart health for all American Indians and Alaska Natives living with diabetes. By joining Healthy Heart, we will work closely with you to make important lifestyle changes.

Better Health - You can live a long and healthy life by improving your blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Native Community Support - Meet other American Indians and Alaska Natives with diabetes.  Opportunities exist at support groups, education classes, fitness classes and group activities.

Education and Support to Meet Your Goals - Through one-on-one support, our clinical staff will evaluate your risks for a heart attack or stroke and work with you in reaching your heart health goals.  Think of us as your personal cheerleaders!

Healthy Heart Activities - Open to the Community

  • "Let's Keep It Moving" Exercise Class - Tuesdays 1:30-2:30pm (Pearl Warren Bldg., 606 12th Ave. So.) and Thursdays from 1:30-2:30pm (Elders area in the SIHB clinic).  Call for directions.

  • Honoring the Gift of Heart Health - Come join others to discuss and learn a new healthy topic that'll keep your heart strong!  Class held on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm.  The group is fun...snacks are provided.

  • Cooking Demonstration - A cooking demonstration is held the third Tuesday of each month at 3:00pm.  Learn new recipes every month!
