Each year, two new residents are selected by peers and faculty for training at Seattle Indian Health Board. We look for, and offer preference to, students with academic strength and a strong commitment to Indian health. Applicants should be seriously considering a career providing care to American Indians and Alaska Natives.
Applications are due in early fall of each year. Prospective resident interviews occur in the late fall and early winter. New residents are matched with SIHB in March and typically begin the program in June, often in time to participate in SIHB graduation ceremonies for outgoing residents.
SIHB’s residency program is a satellite of the Swedish Family Medicine Residency Program Providence Campus. Application information can be found here. A separate NRMP match number 1755120C5 must be used when ranking the SIHB site. We participate in the national ERAS matching system.
Applicants should also mark the SIHB track designation when applying to the Swedish/Providence Program through ERAS.
If you have questions about the residency program, please e-mail or call the program’s
Residency Assistant, Lyn Garvey, at lyng@sihb.org or 206.834.4019.
